We stayed at the Bee & Thistle, and it was delightful!  The home is beautiful, the rooms divine, and staff were so helpful and kind.  The restaurants all within walking distance were excellent. A lovely part of Vancouver to experience and enjoy.  The York theatre (the Cultch) is walking distance away. Exceeded expectations! This place is just beautiful!  My friends and I came to Vancouver for a wedding and we couldn’t have been happier with the location and the design of the manor.  I’m always a little wary of a hotel room because I’m often weak and have a serious immune problem. But this place was CLEAN! I felt completely comfortable staying in the room when I needed to and the condition of the bathroom was spotless. It was so much more pleasant and personal. They also gave us a super yummy cookie and a tart. It was lovely.  There are a zillion different places to eat only a couple of blocks away, but it’s still in a quiet area. We usually stay downtown but this was much better.  I’d also like to say that I thought it was good value. We like to travel but also are not able to pay hundreds and hundreds for a room. We got the smallest room that was the least expensive and it was great. It was so nice to stay in a really, really nice place and not a dingy hotel room.  (Canada)

I would highly recommend the Bee & Thistle! It is situated in a beautifully restored house within walking distance of all the amenities o Commercial Drive.     I stayed in the Ivy Room, having been graciously upgraded, which featured an in-room gas fireplace, a very comfortable king size bed and an ensuite bathroom with radiant heated floor.  The room is wonderful, although the fixtures have been upgraded, the fir trim, floors and windows are original and in wonderful condition.  The view of the North Shore mountains is breathtaking. Jody, who received me upon arrival, was very nice and made several recommendations that really added to the quality of my visit.  Highly recommended it!!  (UK)

Wonderful, amazing – can’t wait to come back!  The Bee & Thistle is a true gem, beautifully renovated and in a great neighborhood.  I stayed in Joey’s Retreat for almost 3 weeks, a very well appointed apartment on the ground floor with full kitchen and a laundry. The apartment was immaculately clean and the bed linen so soft and luxurious – an incredibly comfy sleep.  Although breakfast isn’t supplied any longer, the fridge is stocked with snacks, yoghurt, cream and tea and coffee is also supplied.  Oh, and also a home baked cookie every day.  These provisions are an extremely thoughtful touch.  Commercial Drive, which is just around the corner, has a great many restaurants, cafes, shops and supermarkets – everything you’ll ever need is just a 20 minute bus ride from downtown, so very easy to get into the city and with a compass card provided by the host it was made even easier.  Jody was very helpful from my first queries, to the booking and throughout my whole stay.  I was visiting from Australia to take a couple of workshops close by and I had been planning this special trip for a long time.  Staying at the Bee & Thistle made it even more special and memorable.  When I come back (I’m now saving up again), I will definitely be staying here.  Thanks, Jody, Jack, Lynn & Michael!  (Sydney, Australia)

This is a top rated property for a reason! This was our second stay at the Bee & Thistle. We stayed in Joey’s Retreat, a 600+ square feet suite. It offers a fully-equipped kitchen, a comfortable bed with upscale linens, a sitting room featuring a fireplace and a huge tv with an amazing array of channels. It has a charming yet modern four-piece bathroom; in-suite laundry was a bonus. The suite, which was pristine on our arrival, was refreshed everyday. Overall, the suite was the perfect place to return to at the end of our busy days sightseeing and visiting friends.We have stayed in B&Bs across Canada and the U.S. and what distinguishes this property is its hosts. Lynn and Michael take pride in their guest house and it shows in how they meticulously manage and maintain it. They are friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating with a genuine interest in their guests. They exceed expectations with yummy homemade treats, transit cards and a very extensive and detailed restaurant guide. (Quebec, Canada)

Charming hosts in a great neighborhood! The Bee and Thistle was a perfect place to stay, just a couple of blocks from a bus line, walking distance to the Sky Train (an easy ride to downtown), and right near numerous restaurants, cafes and stores. Lynn and Michael were gracious, helpful hosts. They lent us cards for public transit, and were attentive to all our needs. We stayed in Joey’s Retreat, a spacious downstairs suite that had a huge kitchen and gas fireplace-very private and cozy. The neighborhood is leafy and, unlike downtown or Gas Town, not touristy at all. (San Francisco, CA)

Bee & Thistle is not only a wonderfully located guest house, but it is also well managed and maintained. Bus service to the down town area is only a block and a half from the front door. The owners, world travelers themselves, have excellent insight for their guests. They have information packages in each room with suggestions for entertainment and restaurants ranging from the budget conscious to the extravagant. They are pleased to answer questions about the neighbourhood and the city, make reservations and arrange taxis. I stayed four days, two in Joeys Retreat and two in Ivy. Both are beautifully and elegantly decorated. Lynn and Micheal are the consummate hosts tending to individual requirements and ensuring a positive experience for all. (Winnipeg, Canada)

Wonderful stay! This is a wonderful older, but renovated and stylish home just off lively and eclectic Commercial Drive. We had a room overlooking the rear of the property and it was quite lovely for our needs, including a lovely soaker tub and shower and fridge stocked with beverages and goodies. We were greeted each day with two large, homemade cookies. There are lots of options within a few minutes walk for breakfast. The hosts were helpful and warm people who immediately helped us feel right at home. Will definitely return! (British Columbia)

Fabulous! One  of the very best! Bee and Thistle was perfect, beginning with reservation to check out; (resident host) Michael came down to say hello upon our check in. If he or Lynn were not around, very clear notes were left with info we needed. DELICIOUS and HUGE daily cookies were provided, as well as enough coffee, yogurt, and snacks to get us started each day. JOEY’S RETREAT was gorgeous and very functional. Everything was provided for a relaxing and easy stay, including a laundry machine which was SO appreciated! The flowers on the patio area were gorgeous! We truly enjoyed it here, and will stay again when we return to visit family in the future. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! (St. Petersburg)

Five star, ten out of ten, amazing! We stayed in Joeys retreat, recently totally refurbished and beautifully decorated, very tasteful, boutique style . Lynn and Michael have thought of every finishing touch one could want. Luxury bathroom with lovely products, fluffy towels, dressing gowns, the most comfortable bed with beautiful crisp linen, stocked fridge with goodies to nibble on , delicious home made cookies, immaculately clean, great location as it’s walking distance to a great choice of interesting restaurants for all tastes. Easy access to the sky train and minutes into central Vancouver . Beautiful balcony access upstairs to use for evangelist drinks. Lovely residential street, wide pretty road with lots of trees. We really couldn’t have wanted anything better or more comfortable on our trip to Vancouver. The hosts we also incredibly helpful with information re travel locally and also looking up transfers to Vancouver Island and also booking us a taxi . Wonderful! This is a charming and beautifully kept property. The owners are delightful, accommodating and I had a number of wonderful conversations with Michael. Be aware this is a bed and bath – breakfast is not part of the arrangement. Far better than a hotel, when visiting Vancouver this will be my preferred place to stay. (Atlanta, GA)

A haven in Vancouver! Spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished and incredibly quiet! A truly restful experience just 2 blocks from Commercial Drive with its many restaurants, pubs, coffee bars and fresh fruit and vegetable markets. There’s a bus to downtown Vancouver just a few minutes walk from the guesthouse, a longer walk past shops and houses to the Broadway Station and ten minutes walk to a park. The owners Lynn and Michael are extremely helpful and accommodating and provide many extras that moved this stay into a luxury experience. Loved it! (Canada)
