Florence’s Room

Florence would have loved this room, which overlooks the back garden through lovely original mullioned windows. The room has a queen size bed, an electric fireplace, original fir floors, and is decorated in rich, deep colours that reflect the garden in the autumn. The pretty ensuite bathroom is partially tucked under the third floor stairs and features heated tile floors, a lovely chandelier, deep soaker tub with separate custom shower, and gorgeous stone tiles with glass accents.

“Florence” is named for Florence Dowling who first appears in the Vancouver Archives in 1926 and was the daughter of Ivy & Thomas. Besides being named for one of the most beautiful cities in the world, we know that Florence was a telephone operator, had some quirky nicknames, and lived in this lovely Vancouver home. The rest of her story is gone but we can imagine her loves, her passions and her dreams as we walk the floors that she walked more than 100 years before us.
